Mohan Spintex India Limited (MSIL), established in 2005, is one of Andhra Pradesh’s leading textile manufacturing companies. Situated near Vijayawada, MSIL has grown to become the second-largest textile producer in the state, with a diverse portfolio that includes the manufacturing of home textiles and high-margin products such as 100% compact, combed, blended, and open-ended yarn. Catering to well-known Indian fabric and garment manufacturers like Welspun, Himatsingka, Indo Count, and Mafatlal, MSIL is a vertically integrated company with a strong focus on innovation and quality.
While MSIL’s operational success has been remarkable, they recently faced a challenge that threatened their daily functions. The company relies on a large storage pond to collect and filter rainwater, which is then reused in its factory operations. This water conservation system plays a key role in their production process, reducing their dependence on external water sources. Unfortunately, the pond had been leaking water from the base for an extended period, significantly reducing the amount of rainwater available for reuse and forcing MSIL to seek alternative, costlier sources of water.
Realizing the urgent need to fix the problem, MSIL approached Megaplast for a long-lasting solution to stop the water leakage. Our recommendation: an HDPE liner.
Why HDPE Liners?
High-density polyethylene (HDPE) liners are durable, resilient, and impermeable membranes widely used for water containment, erosion control, and waterproofing applications. In terms of water retention, HDPE liners are a proven solution, capable of effectively sealing pond bases, preventing leaks, and extending the operational lifespan of water containment systems. For MSIL, an HDPE liner would effectively resolve the leakage issue, enabling them to maximize rainwater collection and optimize their water management.
Our Approach to Resolving MSIL’s Water Leakage Problem
When MSIL contacted Megaplast, they requested HDPE liners in the range of 500 to 750 microns. However, post conducting a comprehensive on-site inspection of the storage pond, we concluded that the base, which consisted of rough, red gravel, required a thicker and more robust liner. Given the harsh conditions and the high risk of punctures, we recommended a 1.0 mm smooth HDPE liner, which offered enhanced durability and protection.
Once the recommendation was accepted, we swiftly coordinated with our trusted dealer, Elite Liner Service, based in Vijayawada. Together, we supplied and installed the HDPE liner across the 8,800 square meter pond area. The thicker liner ensured that the pond was completely sealed, providing MSIL with a long-lasting solution to its water loss issue.
A Successful Project and a Satisfied Client
The installation of our HDPE liner was a tremendous success. With the pond now entirely leak-free, MSIL was able to resume its water conservation efforts, ensuring smooth factory operations without the need for expensive external water sources. Additionally, the pond area was beautified with greenery, further contributing to a more eco-friendly environment.
MSIL expressed their satisfaction with both the quality of the product and the services provided. At Megaplast, we are committed to delivering solutions that are tailored to our clients’ specific needs, and this project was no exception. By offering a durable, reliable, and sustainable solution, we helped MSIL not only resolve its immediate challenge but also optimize its water management practices for the future.
